Lessons from Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s Split

The stars of Hollywood always seem to find themselves in the media spotlight. Sometimes, this is for good reasons regarding upcoming movies, charity work, and marriages. Other times, it might be for not so good reasons.

The popular power couple of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is no more. The two recently announced their divorce. While it might take some time for the reasons and circumstances for the divorce to be made public, the general audience might be curious for some information regarding the split. Reporters will dig as much as possible to try to get details surrounding their divorce. Often times stories may be exaggerated or completely fabricated regarding a famous couple’s separation or divorce. It is important to make sure you are getting your information from a reliable and reputable source. You do not want to keep spreading false information.

What Happens to the Kids?

Whenever parents go through a divorce, the future of the children is always the number one priority. Every divorce has different circumstances, but if it is possible, it is ideal to have both parents remain in the picture. This appears to be the focus for both Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have both said that they are committed to the future of their family, which still includes the other parent. The couple is known for raising a large number of adopted children from all over the world. The future of their children will continue to remain their focus even if the couple is no longer together, as Jolie echoed when she recently went on "Good Morning America." Jolie and Pitt will likely enter into a time-sharing schedule so they can each spend quality time with their children. That document controlling the time-sharing schedule may also specify a child support obligation if either Pitt or Jolie will owe child support to the other.

Jolie Hiring a Publicist?

Anyone who has read the tabloids understands that divorce can provide a significant amount of negative publicity, particularly when the circumstances for the split are unknown. It was recently reported that Angelina Jolie may be looking to hire a Hollywood publicist to help her maintain her image. After all, negative publicity could have a negative effect on divorce proceedings (a lesson any person can learn from). She has hired a crisis management team in the past when she was struggling with legal battles, particularly with Brad Pitt. Those in the public eye, such as Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, will want to keep this matter private. That is why it is so important to try to resolve issues related to a family directly with the other party. Anything filed with the court become public record and can be viewed by anyone. People will be eager to find documents that are filed as part of the court docket in litigations involving celebrities. That is why it is in the parties’, as well as their children’s, best interest to keep those details and information private and not part of the public court record. If negative information regarding the couple gets out, it may be a good idea to hire an experienced publicist. That person will know exactly how to handle negative information becoming public and how best to protect the famous actress’ reputation and family.

Continued Charity Work

Despite the legal and emotional issues surrounding the divorce, the power couple has developed an impressive track record of helping people struggling in third-world countries. Their divorce is likely to have an impact on their joint efforts overseas. It is typical for couples with joint entities who are involved in a divorce to hit some roadblocks; however, their commitment to charity work is remarkable and it is likely that both will continue their efforts in the future. Hopefully they remain committed to their charity work and children as well. Perhaps they will continue their charity work separately, even though previously they had been involved in charities together.
